Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask Whisky (40%)
Nose: Sweet, strong - medicinal, maybe?
Palate: I had to check the label again, it tastes cask strength, but at 40% clearly is not. Lovely dark colour, but not as gentle as it suggests on paper.

Amrut Single Malt Whisky (46%)
Nose: Unusual! Slightly medicinal, but not unpleasantly so. Quite bourbon-y.
Palate: Rum? Very odd, probably too complex for my palate.

Teeling Single Pot Still Whiskey (46%)
Nose: Nope, can't make it out

Abasolo Spirit (43%)
Nose: Sweet, light, hints of popcorn, but no saltiness.
Palate: Very easy to sip neat, sweet, hints of fruit and a tiny bit of spice.
I love this! Such an interesting taste.
"made using 100% Mexican Cacahuazintle corn! Interestingly, a portion of the corn goes through nixtamalization, an ancient cooking technique, while another portion is malted. During the mashing process, the nixtamalized is combined with the malted corn, and then allowed a long fermentation of over 120 hours. It's then double distilled in copper stills, and set aside to age in new and old casks."

Ardmore 9 Year Old 2012 - Cask Noir (Brave New Spirits) Whisky (58.5%)
Nose: yes, strong, but doesn't feel 58% strong! Smokey, burnt sugar, sea breeze
Palate: burnt sugar, not so smokey, dry finish.

Lindores Abbey MCDXCIV Whisky (46%)
Nose: Really gentle; for 46%, my nose is usually more violated! Sweet toffee/caramel
Palate: good strong taste, despite the gentle aroma. I can't pretend to keep up with what the experts taste, but this is a lovely dram
Fascinating history of the distillery being built on the site of the first recognised distillery in 1494 Aqua vitae > Uisge beatha (oosh-ka bay, oosh-ka baa) -> Uisge (oosh-key) -> whisky

Miyagikyo Single Malt Whisky (45%)
Nose: fruit, slight smoke, burnt embers
Palate: Light, but the burnt embers really kicks in with a mild spice. Addendum; liquorice!
What a lovely dram! Really lovely, complex tastes for me but it really works and I'll never need anything but water to drink this with.

Tamdhu 12 Year Old Whisky (43%)
Nose: Orange sweets, odd! Like Opal Fruits orange, not peel!
Palate: I can't get over the orange sweets; there's more going on, rougher than I'm used to for an aged whisky, but pleasant.
